It's that time of year, where everything happens at once!
Where my brain kicks into high gear and I Faalllllllll into the season and drag you all along for the ride.
And while exhausting at times, the things we are doing this fall are exhilarating.
Seriously, we have community service projects coming out our "wah-zoos" -- it's like an early Christmas (my other favorite time of year!).
So here is the low-down on the joyful works our community is involved in this coming month...

good works

Ministry Fair - September 30/October 1 - After all Liturgies in the Social Hall
It's an open opportunity to examine what my God-given gifts and talents are and where my community could use them.
And we aren't asking for a pound of flesh or a firstborn child -- but what we are doing is breaking open the prospects
of where you might find fulfillment in your call to serve.  Service could be as little as an hour a month.
And I can tell you honestly, as a socially awkward person, (I will say all the wrong things at all times -- which is why I'm not allowed to talk at church) the fellowship and the joy I have found ministering makes my life ten-fold better than it ever could have been sticking to myself and my ways.

Drop by, wander around, eat the snacks and chat with folks.
If you find something you like give it a try -- if it doesn't work out for you then try something else.
Can't wait to see your Spirit!

Pawsome Shelter Pet Collection -- Collection runs now through October 14
St. Francis of Assisi's Feast Day is October 4.  As he was a lover of all creatures great and small, to honor him and his teachings, we have a Pawsome Shelter Pet Collection. (No.  I don't want animals for this collection -- funny people.) Please see the inserted photo for the items we need.  We will be donating the majority of the items to the Macomb Human Society.  They have currently taken in some animals who were displaced by the Hurricanes that rumbled through Texas and Florida so their need for donated items is greater than normal.  Consider picking up even just one little thing on the list.  Items can be dropped off in the entrances of church on the weekend or in the parish offices during the week.

Pet Blessing - October 8. 2017 - Noonish
Bring Rover on over, as well as, all your other pet friends, as we celebrate St. Francis of Assisi life with our pet blessing. We will meet around the gazebo at NOONISH.
(no it isn't an exorcism of ill behaved pets)
Make sure animals are leashed or caged and you are in charge of removing any droppings your pet makes.

SVDP Clothing Drive -- October 14 & 15 ONLY
Tie to do a little fall cleaning and bag up those lightly used clothes for the St. Vincent de Paul stores.  There will be a tent set up somewhere on the grounds (scavenger hunt) with cardboard bins inside just waiting for your donations.  PLEASE don't bring clothing items before or after the weekend.  There is no place to store them and we will be forced to toss them in the dumpster -- don't make us toss them in the dumpster.  CLOTHING NEED NOT BE CATHOLIC TO PARTICIPATE.

October Birthday Party at the Local Nursing Facility
We throw a party every year at the local nursing facility for all the residents who have a birthday in October.  During our celebration we like to hand out goody bags to all the residents.  We are looking for donations of travel shampoos and conditioners, travel soaps, new combs, hard candies & small chocolate candies, Socks with gripers, crossword puzzles and word finds, large print decks of cards, travel tissues etc.  If you'd like to donate any of these items, please drop them off at the Parish Office.  NEED NOT BE CATHOLIC TO DONATE -- Just value our elders!
